

Is the No Obligation, Complimentary Consultation/Personal Training Session really no
obligation?
Absolutely! Selecting a partner to help you achieve your fitness goals is really important. You need
to meet us, see our studio, and feel confident in our abilities. Although we are confident that after
talking through your goals, experiencing our personal training service and discussing our range of
packages, you will feel comfortable making the decision to train with us. However, we recognize that
we are not the best fit for everyone. If you decide that we are not a fit for you, we just ask that you be
honest and inform us of your decision. Don't worry, we will respect your decision and we will both
move on.
Why should I choose Fitness Together over the competition?
I will answer that by explaining that we do not have competition. No one else in the area creates
customized health and fitness programs, conducted in private personal training suites. None of our
trainers are independent, we operate as a team. We have the ability to train you, even when you
have a demanding schedule.
Are your trainers certified?
Our personal trainers are all certified, and most have earned degrees in health and exercise
curriculum. In addition, our trainers score high marks in attitude, maturity, and the application of our
knowledge.
Do you have an Automatic External Defibrillator (AED)?
Yes, we have one AED in each of our locations and our staff is certified in CPR and AED use.
How much time do I need to dedicate to my exercise program?
Depending on your availability, goals, and level of commitment it is advised that you come in at least
2-3 times per week to meet with your trainer. Each session is 45 minutes and you should budget time
either before or after to focus on your cardiovascular exercise. Your trainer will discuss activities that
you can add in your "off" days to maximize your results.
Will you help me with my diet?
We do not create a "diet" in the four-letter sense of the word. We will educate you on supportive
nutrition, provide you with a journal, and offer frequent information to help you create eating habits
for a lifetime. All of our packages include access to our online nutrition program which will help you
rate your nutritional choices.
How much weight could I expect to lose?
You can expect to lose between 1-2 lbs. per week. At first you may gain a little weight. Understand
that your body takes a long time to change its physiology to lose weight; it took just as long or longer
to put it on. Besides, it’s not just weight that you’re trying to lose it’s body fat. We measure body fat
percentage to evaluate your progress.
What if my schedule does not allow a regular schedule every week?
We will work with you to determine the best schedule possible to meet your needs. This might involve
training with more than one of our qualified personal trainers, but we can assure you that our trainers
will work together to help you meet your health and fitness goals.
Can my child work with a Fitness Together trainer?
Our Fitness Together studio will be happy to train children beginning at age twelve - exceptions may
be made for younger children who are mature and have a strong desire to work with a trainer. We do
not cater to children's programming but instead we take the same approach to personalizing routines
for adults and adapt our approach for the special considerations that need to be taken with children -
both in adjusting the intensity of the workout and making sure not to push the limits of a child's
attention span. We require that a parent/legal guardian attend the first appointment - the
Complimentary Fitness Consultation. During this consultation, the child's parent/legal guardian will
be asked to sign a waiver allowing us to work with the child. We will discuss the child's goals and any
health history that may affect his or her exercise routine, and then we will take him or her through
some exercises. After the Personal Training Session, we will encourage you to go home and discuss
your child's honest feelings about the experience. We will follow up with you by phone the next day
and discuss a schedule to get started. You will not be required to attend each scheduled Personal
Training Session, but are invited to wait in the studio if you prefer.
How long do I have to use a package of Personal Training Sessions?
Typically, we require that any package of sessions be used within one year from the date of purchase.
Can I share a Personal Training Package with a spouse, friend, or co-worker?
Of course! What we encourage is that you determine the number of sessions you will need to meet
your health and fitness goals (we help you do this at your complimentary Fitness Consultation) and
let your spouse, friend or co-worker do the same. What we can do is give you a discount based on
the total volume of sessions your family or group purchases. Bringing someone else into the Fitness
Together family will help you financially and can also provide motivation and support which goes way
beyond dollars and cents.
As a client, can I come anytime?
Fitness Together provides Private, One-on-One Personal Training. In order to ensure that your
trainer will be ready for your Personal Training session, all sessions are by appointment. You are
welcome to come to your session early or stay after to attend to your cardiovascular exercise routine.
Can I use my package of Personal Training Sessions at other Fitness Together locations?
Fitness Together is a franchise of separate studios which are all privately owned and operated.
Since the Southborough and Ashland studios share a common owner, exceptions can be made for
clients who want to utilize their sessions at these two locations.
What forms of payment does Fitness Together accept?
Our Fitness Together studios accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover, Personal Checks and Cash. We
also sell Gift Certificates to make it easy to get a friend or family member started on a program.
Rescheduling Sessions
What do I do if I am not feeling well and need to cancel my scheduled session?
At Fitness Together, we understand that you might have an illness (either yours or your child's) that
might prevent you from attending a scheduled personal training session. We ask that you try to
determine before 8pm the night before your scheduled session and call the studio to notify us if you
will be unable to attend your session. If you wake up in the morning and know you are not able to
attend that day's session, call as soon as you make that determination and we will work with you to
reschedule your session, if possible.
What happens if I purchase a package of sessions and am not able to use them due to
illness?
Typically, we require that any package of sessions be used within one year from the date of
purchase. If you are unable to exercise due to a medical condition we just ask that you obtain a note
from your doctor stating such and include an estimated date by which you should be allowed to
resume activity. We will then extend the time you have to use your sessions accordingly. In rare
cases when a client is expecting to be out for a year or more, you may request that any remaining
sessions be transferred to a spouse, family member or close friend. Keep in mind that exercise can
be a therapeutic part of recovery. Our trainers have experience working with many people as they
recover from serious illness. Although you may not be able to exercise as hard as you did when you
were healthy, we can work with you and your doctor to set the appropriate short-term goals until you
can get back to your regular fitness routine.
What do I do in the event of inclement weather?
As most of our clients live in close proximity to our studio, we make every effort to keep our studio
open to service our clients. Exceptions will be made when a State of Emergency is declared and all
non-essential traffic is requested to remain off the roads. In this case we will call you to reschedule
your appointment. If you do not feel comfortable driving to your appointment due to the weather, call
the studio as soon as possible to notify us of your decision and we will work with you to reschedule
your appointment.
Complimentary Fitness Consultation/Personal Training Session
What should I wear to my Fitness Consultation?
Since we will be putting you through a light workout, you should come to your complimentary Fitness
Consultation ready to exercise. You should wear comfortable sweat pants or shorts that are either
loose fitting or that will stretch with you as you go through the exercises. It would be helpful if you
wear a t-shirt and some sort of sweatshirt that you can remove if you become warm and of course,
shoes appropriate for exercise such as sneakers or walking shoes.
Can I bring a guest with me to my Fitness Consultation?
If two or more people are interested in starting an exercise program, we encourage them to make
separate appointments for their complimentary Fitness Consultation. The reason for this is simple -
at Fitness Together we work with you to provide YOU with the best options for YOUR health and
fitness training. Even though you might have a lot in common with your friend or spouse, you are not
the same person and may have different needs and preferences. NOTE: If you require someone
else to help you make your decision to start an exercise program at Fitness Together, then that
person is welcome to come along. Just note that we will be focusing on your goals and needs during
the consultation.
Fitness Assessments
Why does Fitness Together conduct Fitness Assessments?
We conduct Fitness Assessments because we take the responsibility of helping you achieve your
health and fitness goals seriously. We want to make sure you are making progress towards the goals
you established with your trainer and make any and all necessary adjustments in your health and
fitness routine to achieve those goals.
What is a Fitness Assessment?
A Fitness Assessment is our way of base lining your fitness level and then showing you scientific
proof of your progress towards your fitness goal. It is an excellent time to evaluate your goals and
likely make new ones. The Fitness Assessment can be done in about 45 minutes (the same duration
as our Personal Training sessions). The Assessment will give you and your trainer your fitness status
in these categories: Body Composition (how much body fat vs. lean body mass you currently have),
Body Circumference measurements in key areas, Cardiovascular Endurance, Muscle Strength and
Endurance and Flexibility. This is a private session and results are shared only with you and the FT
Personal Trainers with whom you train. You are provided a full-color printout of your Fitness
Assessment which will help you track your progress (and help you brag to your friends, family or
doctor if you choose!)
